Benefits of LED Lightning for Stores

LEDs have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and long lifespan. Not only that, LED lights emit less heat, which can help keep your store cooler and at a more comfortable temperature for your customers, especially during the warmer months of the year. Have LED lights installed in your entire sales area to ensure consistent lighting throughout your retail store. Also, look for bulbs with a high CRI (colour rendering index) of at least 90 to accurately portray the colours of your products properly.

Types of Lightning Needed in Retail Stores

Let’s dive a little deeper into each type of lighting and how it can benefit your retail store.

  1. Decorative fixtures: When planning your store’s lighting design, it’s important to start with decorative fixtures. These are meant to be seen, have an aesthetic, and can make a statement (isn’t that what you want!?), so place them in prominent areas such as feature displays in the center of your store or at your cash desk. Remember: Your feature displays set the tone for your customer's shopping experience, so consider placing lights above six feet and hanging them from the ceiling to bring some character to your store. 2. Track lights: Track lighting is great to illuminate and highlight your major permanent displays as they provide focused lighting to really illuminate and highlight products. You can angle the light to focus on specific areas of your displays to really bring attention to your merchandise setup. These lights give you the flexibility to change the areas you are highlighting when you decide to rearrange your displays because it adjusts the angle and position of the lights whenever needed.

  3. Task-oriented lighting: These are essential for certain areas of your store, such as dressing rooms, cash desks, and even signs/posters. By adding lighting to these areas, you can help your customers and your team better visibility to complete their activities in your store.

  4. Recessed Downlights: Recessed downlights also known as pot lights are often used as ambient lighting in a retail space. This lighting type creates a warm, comfortable, and inviting mood for any retail store. It is also used to fill in any dark spots around your store. You can do this with general lighting fixtures, such as recessed lights or larger LED panels. A good rule of thumb is to add ambient lighting wherever there are more than 6 feet between light fixtures to create a cohesive and visually pleasing lighting design.
