How to Prepare your Retail Store for Black Friday

Black Friday is right around the corner, and you know what that means - a lot of eager shoppers looking to get their holiday shopping done as early as possible. For you, a retail store owner, Black Friday can be an overwhelming day that brings with it crowds of people, large orders and lots of inventory control. To ensure your customers’ Black Friday experience is a pleasant one, it’s important to make sure your store looks presentable and operates efficiently ahead of time.

But how exactly? Let’s have a look at some tips to get your shop ready for the crush of customers!

1 . CLEAN YOUR STORE (SWEEP, MOP AND CLEAR CLUTTER)

Make your store shine and stand out! It may seem like a small task, but sweep, mop and clear clutter from around your store before Black Friday shoppers arrive. It will also be easier for you to keep things clean if you do this ahead of time. This way, when Black Friday customers come in,  your staff  won’t have to worry about tripping over anything that’s out of place or dirty. You can also take a few minutes to make sure your retail visual merchandising is organised and up-to-date so that the customer experience is as seamless as possible and inspiring.

2. OPEN UP YOUR SALES FLOOR

It’s time to make some edits to your store. Shift around your layout, so there is more room for the influx of new customers that may visit during this high-volume sale day.
! This will make it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for when they come in, and will also encourage them to explore other parts of your store while they’re there.
Make sure to arrange your store so that all Black Friday sales offers are presented at the front of your store, but also spread out throughout the sales floor so customers aren’t crammed in one area.

3. CREATE A BLACK FRIDAY EVENT TO INCREASE FOOT TRAFFIC AND SALES

We all know the power of social media, right? So, what are you waiting for? Use your online platforms to keep your customers aware of your upcoming events and get them eager for Black Friday. Create a Black Friday event to increase foot traffic and sales. For example, offer your customers goodies, samples and (of course!) good sales. You might also want to add pavement signs to get customers intrigued for your upcoming Black Friday events.

4. ADD SALE SIGNAGE ON YOUR DISPLAYS

Boost your store sales with the right signage! Add necessary signage and pricing on your displays that are clean, clear, speak to your brand and your offerings. This is a key component to attracting shoppers, so make sure your signage and pricing on displays are clean and easy to read. Not only does this catch the eye of the shopper, but it also helps create a sense of urgency in the customer.

For example, adding fun holiday taglines will create excitement for potential customers who may be browsing in your store at other times of the year. Or, adding lifestyle graphics showing your products in use will make it easier for customers to imagine themselves with the product in their lives. Basically, the more engaging your display is, the better chance you have of drawing attention from customers and encouraging them to buy something that day!

5. CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

Deliver the best customer experience! It is no secret that the retail experience during Black Friday requires a little more than just a great selection of products. Customer expectations during this time are higher than any other day of the year. Make sure you have the basics covered by creating a retail design, visual merchandising and interior that is welcoming and easy to navigate. It starts with simple things like reducing the perception of a long wait time and making it fun and engaging for people waiting in line by adding QR codes to storefront signage so they can shop online while they eagerly wait to discover in-store sales.
